FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Quality Marlborough Chardonnay and a lovely example of the modern, more elegant style supported by some good old fashioned robust palate weight. Partial barrel fermentation in French oak has given this wine a gorgeous texture while the soft acidity on the finish holds your interest throughout. Good wine.
The winery writes "Our Estate Chardonnay is made in a fruit forward style made for immediate drinking, showcasing the estate grown fruit. Some barrel aging adds to the complexity of the wine, but it is the fruit that is the hero here, showing the typical citrus and stone fruit flavours of chardonnay balanced by fine acidity and roasted nut and pastry. Roast chicken loves this wine!"
Sam Kim writes "It's splendidly fruited and inviting on the nose showing apricot, fig, vanilla and roasted hazelnut aromas, leading to a flavoursome palate that's filled with bright fruit flavours combined with elegant oak nuances. Beautifully composed and delightfully drinkable."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, fruity and varietal with a soft cream textured bouquet, aromas of peaches and cream, red apple and vanilla spice. These attributes seamlessly transition through to the palate with a near full-bodied satin cream texture, flavours of apple and peach, apricot and vanilla. Balanced and well made with a generous mouthfeel and acid line for contrast."
