SAVE $180 per case ON THIS EXQUISITE BARBERA FROM THE 2021 WINE ENTHUSIAST EUROPEAN WINERY of the YEAR!
92/100 | James Suckling
Barbera is the third most planted varietal in Italy following montepluciano and sangiovese - and this is a bright, medium to full-bodied rendition of this much loved red wine. Produced by Villa Sparina, the winery that won Wine Enthusiast's highly coveted European Winery of the Year award in 2021(!!!), this handpicked release is produced from 100% barbera and comes loaded with fresh red berry notes on a pillow soft palate that finishes deliciously long and lingering. It's just so attractive, and after you first taste, you'll know why barbera is the wine that put Villa Sparina on the world wine map.
The funky bottle is a nod to Villa Sparina's long history and is modelled after an old bottle found in the cellar when the winery was purchased.
If you're after a deliciously supple, classy Italian red that will look a million bucks on your dinner table, look no further.
The winery writes "Villa Sparina’s Barbera del Monferrato is recognizable from its bright ruby red color and the fine bouquet, characteristics which can only be obtained by using perfectly ripened grapes. This wine is intense and fruity, with juicy raspberry notes and a fresh and soft palate, with long persistence."
