FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
90 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Classically styled premium Hawke's Bay Chardonnay from New Zealand's most awarded winery. Barrel fermented in French oak (17% new). Flavour packed and loaded with all the quality hallmarks of Chardonnays that typically sell in the $25+ bracket, this classy wine is a cracker buy. Stunning value.
The winery writes "Classically Hawkes Bay in style this Chardonnay reveals a fragrant nose of grilled peach and nectarine stone fruit, with complexing cashew characters from subtle French oak. A silken textured mouth feel unfolds with layers of fruit, delicate oak spice and subtle mealy flavours topped with wonderful acidity."
Sam Kim writes "It's gorgeously fragrant on the nose showing apricot, vanilla, hazelnut and oatmeal characters with a hint of citrus overtone. The palate displays excellent weight and textured mouthfeel, beautifully complemented by elegant oak infusion and bright acidity, making it immediately appealing and highly enjoyable."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Fragrant, fruity, balanced and and even bouquet with aromas of white peach and apple, citrus and nut with a soft wood spice complexity. On the palate - a dry wine with a youthful tension and poise form acidity, moderate alcohol and a core of ripe white fleshed fruits. There’s contrasting moments of peach and lemon, apple and pith then a fine baking spice layer. Balanced, well made and ready to drink from purchase and through 2025."
