SILVER MEDAL | International Wine Challenge
The Gimblett Gravels wine growing region in Hawkes Bay has become synonymous with fine syrah production and Trinity Hill have long been at the forefront of the the regions development with this important variety. This release is very perfumed, supple and spicy; a very good example of the pretty / feminine style that the Hawke's Bay Syrah model is moving towards. Excellent.
The winery writes "The 2018 Syrah has a deep and youthful vibrant crimson colour. Wild raspberry, blueberry, cracked pepper and hints of vanilla bean show on the nose. Powerful and balanced ripe tannins give the wine great savoury structure."
Michael Cooper writes "This perfumed, peppery, elegant red is well worth cellaring. Still purple-flushed, it is medium to full-bodied (13% alc/vol), with supple tannins and good intensity of vibrant, plummy, spicy flavours, gently seasoned with nutty oak."
