Super-premium Syrah lovingly vinted by leading Hawkes Bay winemaker Rod McDonald.

19.5/20 FIVE STARS | Raymond Chan.

This is a striking wine and further validation that Hawkes Bay is at the vanguard of international Syrah production. Normally known for his darker broody take on Syrah, this is a prettier style for McDonald with upfront attractiveness revealing layers of underlying savoury complexity. This wine deserves to be discussed in the same conversation as the leading New Zealand Syrahs - Craggy Range Le Sol, Bilancia La Collina, and Trinity Hill Homage.
Bravo.

Description
Ripe fruit from three of our Trademark Syrah vineyards planted on limestone hillsides and an old riverbed. It shows admirable ripeness and depth of flavour, retaining vibrancy and great complexity on the nose and palate with typical violet, spice, black cherry and subtle white pepper notes. Supple chalky tannins provide a structure that promise time in bottle will be rewarded.
