18/20 | Raymond Chan.

A rosé  star is born. This is gorgeous dry rosé from one of the Bay's hottest winemaking talents. Ant Mackenzie spent 2 years in Spain (Tono was his nickname while he was there) and the Tono range represents Ant's take on the classic wines of Spain in a Hawkes Bay context. This Rose is vinted from Tempranillo and Syrah with some Muscat added for aromatic interest. It's a dry and quite tight style with fresh acidity on the finish and is a wonderful food partner.

Description

Raymond Chan writes "Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features bright and refreshingly juicy flavours of strawberries and cream, watermelon and quince. The fruit sweetness is enlivened by fresh, lacy, mouthwatering acidity and the wine flows along a smooth line. Fine and soft, dry textures emerge, leading to a light, dry, lingering finish. This is a refreshingly juicy, dry rosé with delicate strawberries and cream and watermelon fruit flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 2 years."
