Tohu's Whenua Matua Chardonnay has just been named one of the top 50 wines at the Decanter World Wine Awards. It was the only NZ wine to feature on the list, making this outstanding praise for Tohu and putting NZ Chardonnay well and truly on the world stage.
This is generous wine from the Upper Moutere sub-region of Nelson. It's rich and complex with flavours in the stonefruit and citrus spectrum. A hint of nutty spice comes from fermentation in French oak. A stunning wine and an excellent option if you're looking for something a bit special.
The winery writes "Flavours of citrus peel and nectarine backed by subtle hints of hazelnut, flint and smoky oak. Palate is complex and textural. Creamy mouthfeel from lees stirring and extended ageing in French oak barriques. A delightful long and lingering finish."
