FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
This is a serious (and we mean SERIOUS - Ed ) bargain; a truly special, world class example of modern Pinot Gris that you can open without checking the state of the mortgage first. Lightly textural and loaded with off-dry spicy pear and juicy citrus flavours, it is succulent and balanced and that pristine Waipara fruit shines through from start to finish. The roaring success of the 2019 vintage is a tough act to follow but the 2020 has knocked it out of the park and we expect the awards to roll on in. Go.
Sam Kim writes "Wonderfully ripe and immediately appealing, the wine shows apricot, mandarin, pear and subtle spice notes on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that's fleshy and persistent. A comforting wine with plenty of delectable flavours, offering terrific drinking."
The winery writes "The warm, dry climate, high sunshine hours, and long growing seasons in the region of Waipara are perfectly suited to produce Pinot Gris with ripe flavours whilst retaining a good natural acidity. The wine displays lovely delicate floral Pinot Gris characters of fresh citrus, white pear and hints of lychee and spice. The palate is textured and mouth filling finishing with excellent freshness. Best enjoyed young."
