FIVE STARS 18.5/20 | Raymond Chan.

Over the past 20 years Ant McKenzie has crafted fantastic wines for some of the biggest names in New Zealand wine - Dry River, Framingham, Mud House, Te Awa and Spy Valley. Now, under his own banner,  he has created a multi-tier range of wines with  Theory and Practice range pitched as "contemporary wines with a creative edge" .

This is an impressive, powerfully packed Syrah. It's an immediately attractive style with upfront fruit characters that are balanced with fine tannins and lingering spice flavours. Highly recommended.

Description

Raymond Chan writes "Medium-bodied, the palate possesses full and rich, concentrated flavours of ripe black and blue berried fruits, along with black plums. The fruit sweetness and richness forms a deep and powerfully dense core that has fine-grained tannin extraction and vibrant and lively acidity to balance the fruit. The mouthfeel has presence, energy and drive, with positive grip, and the structure carries the wine to a concentrated finish of black fruits, spices, minerals and earthy elements. This is a powerfully packed Syrah with richness match by plenty of structure and grip, and acid energy. "
