FIVE STARS, 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Deliciously fragrant Gewurz from this up and coming Gisborne label. This wine is beautifully finished in an Alsacian style with moderate sweetness in harmony with flavour and with a tropical spicy finish.
This 2013 release is a reserve-level wine and the longbush team have held this back before release so the wine has developed delicious aged characters.
SamKim writes "Gorgeously matured and seductively complex, it's richly perfumed on the nose with mango, grilled peach, mixed spice and honey characters, combined with succulent palate that's plush and sumptuous. Opulent and deliciously appealing."
It's a winner
Great wine - needs a couple of weeks rest to recover from the travel trauma when you get it but after that it's 5star unctuous - best Gewurtz I've tasted ( and I've tasted a few)
