94 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Gorgeous Chardonnay from this boutique producer. Whilst this wine has pure, flint and mineral Chablis-esque characters, the palate has some richness and weight and it is certainly rounder in the mouth than the great Chablis wines it pays homage to. It finishes with a deliciously acidic hit that makes a second glass impossible to refuse.
The winery writes "Pale gold green with silver flecks. Yarrow, citrus peel, charred stonefruits and lemon curd overlay a restrained flinty minerality. Creamy textured fresh citrus and white nectarine is pulled into shape by a bright backbone of acidity. The generous summer fruits are also supported by an understated oak influence with its caramel comfort coupled with our site’s typical clensing, mineral, saline reprise."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Full and richly scented bouquet with aromas of toasty barrel and ripe yellow orchard fruits. Brazil nut and vanilla, peach and toasty dried apple, fresh grapefruit and spice. Full-bodied with a satin cream texture, spice and warmth then flavours that mirror the oak and orchard fruits. Acidity and fine tannins form the foundation while fruit flavours coat the palate. Balanced, well made and still youthful developing complexities over the next 2-3 years."
Glad we stumbled across this one. Delicious!
