ORGANIC WINERY OF THE YEAR | NZ Organic Wine Awards 2021
Terrace Edge can do no wrong; they were recently awarded Organic Winery of the Year at the NZ Organic Wine Awards and their current releases have been flat out scooping five star reviews and gold medals.
Their 2018 Waipara Pinot Noir is medium-bodied, fruity and floral. The palate is flooded with blackberry and cherry flavours and a hint of earthiness. Fine tannins on the finish round things out nicely. Superb wine from a rock-solid producer.
Sam Kim writes "Gorgeously complex and inviting, the bouquet shows spiced cherry, sweet plum, dried herb and mixed spice characters, leading to a splendidly silky palate that's fleshy and lingering. The wine offers delectable fruit flavours together with spicy/savoury nuances, making it fabulously drinkable."
Candice Chow writes "Deep, ruby-red with some depth and good transparency, lighter edged. The nose is elegant, delicate aromas of blackberries, black cherries melded with game and red earth, along with dried herbs and an amalgam of spices. Medium-full bodied, flavours of blackberries, cherries intermixed plums; dried thyme and petals enriched the profile, unfolding game and earthy richness. Silky tannin extraction flows poetically; lingers with lovely intensity and lacy acidity. The wine shows graceful development of game and dried botanical characters, added another layer of complexity."
