94 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Excellent chardonnay from this boutique Gimblett Gravels producer. Fruit was hand picked and whole bunch pressed before maturation in oak for 6 months. The result is a generous, complex wine with ripe peach and nectarine flavours and soft brioche notes.
The winery writes "This Chardonnay has a rich bouquet with stonefruit and citrus notes plus a hint of toastiness. On the palate, it has rich peach and nectarine flavours, with notes of brioche and butterscotch and a long finish."
Cameron Douglas writes "Bold, toasty, fruity and youthful bouquet with aromas of baked custard and peaches, fresh red apple and vanilla, greywacke stones and toasty oak, baked grapefruit and raw sugar. Complex, youthful and forward. On the palate - full bodied, toasty, spicy, fruit and rich in flavour and texture. Fine wood tannins, warming alcohol and flavours of baked fruits, nut, barrel spices and stony mineral flavours make for a lovely example. Best kept in the cellar for a while longer with best drinking from late 2021 through 2026+."
