17.5/20 | Raymond Chan.

Superdeal pricing on this excellent 2014 Chardonnay. Stone Paddock is produced by Paritua - a small, quality obsessed producer sited next door to Sileni, south of Hastings. Paritua's focus has long been on the premium end of the export market - while Stone Paddock has been their 'value proposition'  both internationally and here in the domestic market. These wines are rarely discounted but the winery has introduced a new Stone Paddock livery and approached us to move old label stocks. We are very grateful for this opportunity.

With perfect bottle age under its belt this 2014 Chardonnay is showing brilliantly. Classic regional stonefruit and citrus flavours blend with creamy mouthfeel with lingering flavours of lemon butter. This wine is sensational buying for fans of generous, creamy Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. It comes very highly recommended.

Description

Raymond Chan writes " Medium-full bodied, the palate is full, open and accessible with good depth of sweetly ripe yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits entwined with a little savoury citrus fruit from secondary development. The mouthfeel is rounded and concentrated, and the palate enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The wine carries easily to a light, phenolic-textured, dry finish. This is an up-front, rich and rounded Chardonnay with sweet stonefruit and tropical fruit flavours, just showing some secondary interest, finishing dry. "
