Stags Leap Wine Cellars are known for their sensational red releases (particularly their cabernet which put them on the world stage after beating top Bordeaux wines in a blind tasting in 1976) but in recent years their production of Napa Valley Chardonnay has really ramped up.
Hands of Time is their entry-level range and this 2018 release is medium bodied with soft acidity balanced by a touch of spice from French oak. 100% malolactic fermentation has developed a delicious creaminess and the result is a well-rounded, well-balanced wine. Highly recommended.
The winery writes "This Napa Valley Chardonnay delivers inviting aromas of pear, pineapple, and orange blossom with a lifted floral note. Medium bodied, the wine has a soft palate balanced by pleasant acidity and a subtle touch of oak on the finish. Enjoy this food-friendly Chardonnay with grilled calamari, seared scallops or fresh pasta in a lemon-butter sauce."
