What an absolute bargain! First Flight is Squawking Magpie's entry level range and they've done a superb job at delivering quality wine well under the $20 barrier. From the iconic Gimblett Gravels sub-region, this cabernet dominant blend is soft and savoury with subtle oak influence. It's already a lovely glass of Hawke's Bay red but has the potential for age gracefully over the coming 5-6 years. Incredible value with the Advintage Advantage.

Bob Campbell MW writes "This is the first release of an entry-level blend of Bordeaux varieties that maintains the usual high Squawking Magpie standards. Unlike many entry-level wines, this has good cellaring potential. It's a dense Gimblett Gravels red with cassis, dark berry, dark chocolate, liquorice and blueberry. A youthful, vigorous, high energy wine that offers a mouthful of flavour and a firm structure. Outstanding value!"
