4.5 STARS 90/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
91 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
The Stump Jump range from D'Arenberg delivers superb flavour and intensity with the quaffer price tag. Vinted from the classic blend of grenache, shiraz and mourvedre, this is silky and juicy with vibrant fruit flavours, soft tannins and gentle acidity. This is the perfect weeknight drinker; a great match for roast beef, bbq food or just a night in front of the telly.
Fun fact: this label is designed as an eye test - if you can hold the bottle at arms length and can still read the label then you're good to have another glass!
Sam Kim writes "Sweetly ripe and attractively spicy, the wine shows dark cherry, thyme, clove and toasted nut characters on the nose, followed by a beautifully supple palate delivering succulent fruit flavours with smooth texture and fine tannins. Medium-full and friendly for delightful drinking."
The winery writes "An array of dark, sweet and savoury notes, Plum, dark cherry, game, earth and black pepper. The palate adds mulberry, raspberry with beautiful lifted spice and mineral grit. The fine, powdery, gritty tannins are fruit derived and lively, making for a long finish. There’s no shortage of flavour here."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Fresh, fruity, classic scents of red plums with milk chocolate and red berry fruit flavours. On the palate there’s a touch of black and white spice, licorice and red berry fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. Fine easy tannins and medium+ ish acidity. Balanced and well made in a drink now style. you won’t be disappointed by the quality and price."
