We have secured all library stocks of the coveted Sacred Hill Special Selection range. Widely regarded as the best value flagship range in the country, these famous super-premium wines enjoy a gilt-edged reputation and sit alongside the greatest names in New Zealand fine wine production. These wines have been held in wine storage since production and are sourced directly from the winery. Stock is limited and it is strictly first in, first served.
Brokenstone is Sacred Hill’s Flagship Merlot-dominant wine and has consistently claimed top awards in NZ wine shows. Fruit comes off the famous Gimblett Gravels Deerstalkers vineyard and year after year Brokenstone shows levels of plushness and savoury complexity seldom seen in Gimblett Gravels red wines.
Sam Kim writes "It is superbly ripe and fragrant on the nose showing gorgeous Black Doris plum aromas with clove, cigar, cedar and cocoa notes. The palate is richly fruited and full flavoured, and displays excellent fruit purity and silky texture, brilliantly structured by fine, chalky tannins. Power and grace in one. 2015 Brokenstone is made from grapes grown in the Gimblett Gravels district - 87% merlot, 4% malbec, 4% syrah, 3% cabernet sauvignon and 2% cabernet franc."
The winery writes "Impenetrable colour, the aroma is an explosion of dark damson plum, 10 spice, black olive, black liquorice and sandalwood notes. There is mouth filling richness on the palate with dark plum, Christmas cake and savoury, meaty complexity. The tannins are very fine grained with a soft, chalky quality providing beautifully balanced length."
