GOLD MEDAL | Hawkes Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards 2017
93/100 FIVE STARS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.
17.5/20 | Raymond Chan.
Richly weighted Hawkes Bay Sauvignon that is loaded with tthe tangy, tropical flavours that lovers of Sauvignon adore.
Quarter Acre Wines are a personal showcase for one of Hawkes Bay most respected winemakers - Rod McDonald - and all bear his signature style. Quarter Acre are plush, richly flavoured wines that offer the sort of generosity and drinkability other winemakers aspire to - but seldom achieve. They come highly recommended.
Raymond Chan writes "Dry to tate and medium-full bodied, the palate is soft and densely packed with fruit flavours of greengages, nectarines, spicy herbs and subtle, nutty oak, along with gooseberry and leaf elements and some smoke. The flavours are beautifully and harmoniously interwoven, providing weight, presence and fine mouthfeel. The acidity emerges to lend a thirst-quenching line, and combined with the fine phenolic grip carries to a long, dry, herb-nuanced, spicy finish. This is a complex, harmoniously melded, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with spice and greengage notes and excellent vinosity. "
