Mount Ridge Sauvignon Blanc 2020: The winery writes "This wine is a classic Marlborough blend showing fresh citrus aromas with hunts of lemonwood and crushed nettle. The palate expresses supple fruit weight, dried herb and citrus zest finishing long and balanced."
Pian E Fa Presto Nero d'Avola 2018: Sam Kim writes "Sweetly fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows dried cherry, mulberry, smoked game and roasted hazelnut characters on the nose, followed by a beautifully rounded palate that’s supple and silky. It’s generous and flavoursome with elegant spicy nuances."
Bleeding Heart Shiraz 2019: A lifted nose of fruits of the forest, milk chocolate and subtle spices meshed very nicely with subtle oak influence. The palate is mouth-filling and rich with ripe fruit flavours of blackberry and spicy black fruits framed by supple tannins. Approachable and rewarding now with the trademark richness and depth of McLaren Vale, making it perfect with a chargrilled steak.
Goldridge Reserve Chardonnay 2018: Lovely, rewarding middleweight Hawkes Bay Chardonnay with classic regional stonefruit and citrus flavours on a creamy palate that has some nice French oak complexity. Obvious value here.
Thornbury 2020: Sam Kim writes "Wonderfully ripe and immediately appealing, the wine shows apricot, mandarin, pear and subtle spice notes on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that's fleshy and persistent. A comforting wine with plenty of delectable flavours, offering terrific drinking."
Six Fingers Merlot Cabernet Malbec: Look for classic Gimblett Road characters of dark savoury plum, ripe mocha berryfruits with hints of licorice and tobacco. The finish shows fine tannins and spicy oak. This wine is soft, balanced and drinking well. It will continue to age gracefully over the next 5 years.
