97/100 | Cameron Douglasa MS
A very limited edition ( approx 1,500 bottles produced ) from the very good 2016 vintage. This wonderful wine is a fine example of why top Central Otago Pinot Noir is so special and winemaker Paul Pujol has a stunner on his hands here. This carefully cellared reserve wine is only released a minimum of five years after harvest. It represents a tiny selection from the winery production and made to showcase the unique site with the benefit of time. Rich, silky smooth and complex. Absolutely world class.
Presenting some of the most concentrated and age-worthy Pinot Noir anywhere, the super-select fruit is elegant and refined wine fine structure and long, subtle earthy-mineral characters. A wine to cellar and let evolve like a top Burgundy, Prophet's have given this one the full treatment. It simply couldn't be better.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "The bouquet of this wine reminds me of Burgundy because of the earthy, layered, mineral and floral combinations. The wine is also still incredibly youthful, poised and fruit centric on the palate with red and black cherry, freeze-dried raspberry and a whisper of plum. Poised, vibrant, nervous and still developing with a long intense finish. Decant for service, drinking best from late 2021 through 2029+."
