4.5 STARS 91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
90/100 | Bob Campbell MW
From a single estate 700-800 metres altitude this wine is 50% Monastrell, 50% Syrah sourced from 30-35-year-old dry-farmed bush and trellised vines. It's a lovely, generous example of modern Spanish winemaking with layers of complex spicy dark fruits that sit comfortably on a silky smooth palate that oozes with charm. It's what we like to call a "pleasure wine' where generous soft and easy drinking is the key but there is more than enough interest in each glass to have you coming back for more. It comes very highly recommended.
Ripe red cherries, raspberries, crushed boysenberries, red plums and a touch of vanilla spice on the nose. Medium-bodied and deep in colour with well integrated fine juicy tannins, persistent and soft on the palate with a silky fruit-forward finish.
Bob Campbell writes "Attractively fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows sweet cherry, dried herb, clove and almond characters, followed by a juicy palate that's bright and refreshing. It's elegantly weighted and lingering with fine, chalky tannins, making the wine firm and well structured."
Sam Kim writes "Beautifully ripe and upfront, the wine shows Black Doris plum, mulberry, vanilla and warm spice aromas on the nose, followed by a supple palate that's silky and lingering. It's fruit expressive with elegant spicy nuances, finishing smooth and very attractive."
Yummy dark fruits flavour with a hint of spice
