GOLD MEDAL | Mundus Vini
GOLD MEDAL | Asia Wine Trophy
This brick red, silky Italian blend offers the natural generosity and fleshy, ripe characters of cannonau (a Sardinian Grenache variant) with the drier and more structured addition of carignan and graciano. The secret here is that a small portion of the very best cannonau grapes from the island's best vineyards are dried on the vine at the end of vintage, and those concentrated grapes are then added into the final Passo Sardo blend. This simple process brings a distinct caramel / raisin character into play that sets Passo Sardo apart from its peers.
It's an immediately attractive style with enough grip and acidity on the finish to match hearty foods - whilst still maintaining the soft drinkability that grenache is so well known for. Very highly recommended.
A blend of cannonau / grenache, carignan and graciano that shows a heady mixture of ripe red and black fruits with a pinch of spice. Rounded palate weight and fresh acidity adds depth and length to this appealing red wine.
The winery writes "Passo Sardo is a red wine crafted with Cannonau grapes, the most popular varietal grown in Sardinia. It is characterized by a predominant bouquet of raspberries, jam and mirto berries. Passo Sardo is a full bodied wine, complex and fine, with a balanced acidity and a long finish."
