Palliser Estate will feature in any discussion of New Zealand's finest wine producers - and their wonderful drink now Pencarrow range has an enviable track record for finesse, elegance and all round over delivery. Ever popular, for good reason, Pencarrow Sauvignon remains a totally consistent Martinborough benchmark and the 2019 is an absolute cracker - loaded with plush layers of tropical fruits and tangy citrus characters.
The winery writes "A pristine and uncomplicated style distinguished by exquisite purity, there is not a hair out of place in 2019. Focused, bright and direct with a bracingly fresh acid line and a gentle creamy texture from lees stirring on the finish, the length and minerality confirm this wine is a cut above."
Sam Kim writes "This is instantly appealing on the nose showing passionfruit, feijoa, grapefruit and kaffir lime characters. The palate delivers punchy flavours and excellent fruit intensity, backed by refreshing acidity, finishing long and delicious."
Very easy drinking and excellent value for money.
I gave up on the sauvies a few years ago and moved to the Pinot Gris. This sauvie is the nicest I have had in a long time. Shall buy again.
