FIVE STARS | Raymond Chan
FIVE STARS | Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

The latest One Off* release from celebrated winemaker Rod McDonald takes a modern look at the classic Hawkes Bay blend of the 80's and 90's. 2014 was a cracker vintage in the Bay and this Cabernet Merlot shows what a top winemaker can achieve when the stars align.

As Wine Orbit's Sam Kim comments this is "a delectable wine delivering loads of tasty flavours, and finishes superbly long and engaging." We couldn't agree more.

Tiny numbers (we understand just a few hundred six packs ) have been produced and stock has been strictly allocated by the winery. We've been lucky enough to secure a small parcel of this limited release. Like us, we expect that everyone who buys it will wish they had brought more.

*One-off is the vehicle for celebrated winemaker Rod McDonald to make small parcels of interesting high quality wines. It's been a resounding success and has developed a fanatical fan base. The only catch is that every release is a One Off. When it's gone, it's gone. There'll never be another.

Description
Raymond Chan writes " FIVE STARS. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with a tightly bound core of ripe blackcurrant and black plum fruit flavours along with subtle fresh herb and cassis notes. The fruit is vibrant with fresh acidity, and supported by fine-grained tannin structure forming a firm line. The wine carries to a long, lingering fine-textured finish of blackcurrants, blackberries and cassis".
