TOP 50 WINES FOR WINTER | Metro Magazine 2017.
IMPORTER BIN END SUPERDEAL
Touriga is a Portuguese red varietal that, though best known as the core ingredient in Port production, has been widely used for table wines for hundreds of years. It is now grown in the New World and this Aussie version has produced a big, soft, vibrant glass of red that ticks all of the boxes for us. We love the striking Off the Books packaging and the 2016 is bursting with lashings of dark plums and black fruits. It's a really generous, really approachable style and thanks to the Advintage Advantage, it now comes with a very modest Bin End price tag. Climb in.
Metro writes "Touriga is more famous as the principal variety of port, but here it is used to good effect in one of Australia’s warmer inland regions, producing an upfront, crushed-berry flavoured red, with blueberry or jube high notes. The palate is simple and fruity with a dash of spice and seasoning, but there is no obvious oak here, just unpretentious, easy quaffing."
