GOLD MEDAL | Finger Lakes International Wine Competition
92 POINTS | Wine Enthusiast
This is another exceptional buy from celebrated master winemaker Johnny Quarisa; a man who needs no introduction to The Advintage Aussie Red Faithful. Named after his wife Josephine, this outstanding wine is a lavish, layered example of prime McLaren Vale Shiraz. It's chock full of dark fruits that flow over a silken palate, showcasing the regional spice and fresher acidity that 'the Vale' is so well know for. It's an absolute winner that brings Quarisa's signature generosity and richness to your glass, but remains balanced and fresh in the mouth at all times.
We loved this wine and, in our book, it could easily command twice our $15.99 asking price. If you're looking for a glossy expression of good South Australian Shiraz, you'll go a long way to find better value.
The winery writes "Intense red purple in colour. Huge lifted fresh flavours of spice and pepper with ripe cherry berry fruit balance with cedar oak. Big long intense mouthful of ripe berry fruit, hints of spice and pepper combined with sweet mocha oak. Excellent partner to rich, spicy red meat dishes such as braised beef or barbequed spiced lamb shanks. This wine has the flavour; structure and balance to be enjoyed now or offers added satisfaction from further cellaring."
