This is excellent buying; an opulent and very well-crafted Coonawarra Cabernet from the very safe hands of master winemaker Johnny Quarisa. Named after his wife Josephine, this outstanding wine has enjoyed significant show success and widespread critical acclaim over the years and the newly released 2016 is sure to follow suit. Look for plush layers of dark cabernet fruits with underlying leather / dried herb complexity in the classic Coonawarra style. The wine finishes dry, with creamy acidity and gentle tannins leading to a long, rewarding finish.
In our book, this wine could easily command twice our $15.99 asking price. If you're looking for a mouthfilling expression of good South Australian Cab Sauv, you'll go a long way to find better value.
The winery writes "Bright garnet in colour with purple hues. Intense cool cliamte cassis fruit with integrated spicy oak. Complex flavours of cassis and cherry with spicy oak and a long finish. Serve with red wine glazed lamb and chargrilled capsicum and eggplant. This wine has the flavour, structure nad balance to be enjoyed now or offers added satisfaction from further cellaring."
