FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Deliciously medium styled Waipara Pinot Gris from a producer who understands how to put real flavour in the bottle. A lovely, generously proportioned Gris that we think captures the modern Waipara style perfectly. All class at this price.
Sam Kim writes "It's immediately appealing on the nose showing apricot, poached pear, rockmelon and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers terrific fruit intensity and richly textured mouthfeel, beautifully balanced by refreshing acidity, offering excellent drinking."
The winery writes "The depth of flavour make it a very versatile wine to enjoy with just about any food. It’s ideal with roasted white meats such as pork or chicken as well as stir-fried food as the moderate acidity offsets any oiliness. The slight residual sugar means that it will go well with food that has a touch of sweetness, such as sweet and sour pork. It would also work well with goats cheese. An ideal match would be pork and vegetable spring rolls with sweet plum dipping sauce."
