FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
A fantastic chardonnay from one of Hawke's Bay oldest producers. Made in the robust, powerfully fruited style that lovers of fine chardonnay adore, this is always sensational value and the 2022 certainly adds to that legacy. Recommended.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Aromas and flavours of figs and apple with citrus highlight and gentle layers of wood and a touch of smoke. A satin textured mouthfeel is contrasted by acidity and as the wine opens out in glass flavours of stone-fruit and citrus, some fig and vanilla. There’s a light nutty quality with cashew then peach."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Beautifully composed and expressed, the inviting bouquet shows golden peach, rockmelon, cedar, vanilla and oatmeal notes. The palate delivers excellent weight and fleshy texture, well supported by bright acidity, finishing long and delectable."
The winery writes "This Reserve Chardonnay has been aged in French oak barriques, this stylish chardonnay offers lifted aromas of nectarine, mandarin, nougat and cedar that is creamy and silky with subtle oak infusion."
