18/20 | Raymond Chan.
A fantastic Chardonnay from one of the oldest Hawkes Bay producers Mission Estate. Made in the robust style that lovers of fine Chardonnay adore, this is sensational value.
Raymond Chan writes "Medium-full bodied, the palate is fine and firmly bound with crisp and steely citrus and white stonefruit flavours, along with subtle creamy and nutty barrel-ferment notes at the core. The mouthfeel is fresh with piquant acidity and the wine flows along a very fine phenolic threaded line leading to a dry, nuanced finish of citrus fruit and spicy oak. This is a firm and tightly bound, refreshing Chardonnay with citrus and stonefruit flavours melded with nutty oak, flowing along a very fine, tight line. Hand picked and barrel-fermented, aged 7 months on lees in 22% new French oak. There was no MLF conversion. "
