96 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Flagship, biodynamically grown Chardonnay from this legendary Gisborne producer. Already impressive in its youth, this is a perfect example of the underlying power of respectfully handled chardonnay. Flavours build in the mouth and layers of citrus and stonefruit start to open up in the palate. Another wine in the superb Clos de St Anne series that deserves time in the cellar to unveil its secrets.
Vegetarian and vegan friendly.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Takes a while for the bouquet to reveal soft, complex and gentle aromas of silty crumbly soils, a pure fruit seam with suggestions of white and yellow stone fruits, cashew and vanilla scents of oak and a quiet yet detailed complexity - easily missed if you’re not looking. On the palate - captivating flavours and textures with fruit and spices weaving a lovely fabric across the palate, medium+ acidity and layers of oak spices - not strong just gentle and layered. A delightful wine, balanced and ready."
The winery writes "There is a lovely brightness which smells like gold. Exotic perfumes of acorns, vanilla and almonds welcome the finesse and delicacy combined with a full richness of the palate. These rich layered flavours give a chew and bite to the mouth. Complete with refreshing natural acidity. Very tactile."
