GOLD MEDAL | New Zealand International Wine Show 2021
FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
This quintessential Pinot Noir is winemaker Matt Connell’s interpretation of the 2020 vintage and showcases the great qualities that Central Otago has to offer.
As the previous winemaker at Akarua, Matt brings a wealth of winemaking experience to the party. The ultra-premium fruit was hand harvested from Bendigo and Lowburn vineyards, de-stemmed and aged in French barriques for ten months to bring balance and complexity.
With a label featuring the artwork of street artist Component, this wine looks as good as it tastes. Dive in.
Sam Kim writes "It's splendidly fruited and elegantly complex, showing ripe cherry, sweet plum, floral, subtle spice and roasted hazelnut characters on the nose, followed by a gorgeously succulent palate offering outstanding concentration and persistency. Graceful and seamless with layers of fine texture backed by polished tannins, finishing impressively long and expansive."
The winery writes "Bright ruby colour in the glass, the nose shows dark and red fruits supported by mocha notes. The palate is concentrated, complex and flows with a long morish finish.”
