Matawhero IRWIN Chardonnay 2018

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Bold and expressive bouquet with a complex and familiar set of aromas including fresh and baked yellow orchard fruits, sweet apple, some lemon zest and layers of oak scents from vanilla to toast to baked custard. On the palate - equally impact-ful with flavours of oak first then baked stone fruits second. Brazil nut and baked custard, vanilla and new wood flavours, peaches and cream, apple and citrus. A lovely wine, needs some more harmonising time, but will please many Chardonnay fans who like the full-bodied, creamy, nut and stone fruit-rich-flavoured expression."

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's magnificently composed and expressed, showing golden peach, mango, vanillin oak, custard and oatmeal characters on the nose, leading to a superbly concentrated palate that displays excellent depth and richness. The wine is wonderfully flavoursome with layers of silky textures combined with seductive complexity, finishing impressively long and expansive."
