IMPORTER BIN END SUPERDEAL
Produced by Bodegas San Alejandro (a leading Garnacha specialist based in the heart of the Calatayud appellation in Aragon, northern Spain) Marqués de Nombrevilla is made from dry farmed, old vine garnacha / grenache - with a vine range from 35 to 45 years old. It's a lovely soft and flowing style with pinot noir like weight, and plenty of spicy, ripe red and black fruits on the palate. We liked it for not being as glossy and plush as many of the grenache labels we see in this price band - and it's another fine example of the sheer value we see coming out of Spain these days.
A perfect anytime option, this very approachable wine does not need food, but would make an admirable partner to a charcuterie platter, pizza or lighter grilled meats.
The winery writes "Intense, red cherry color. Concentrated and complex aromas, rich in spicy notes and red ripened fruit. Balanced tannins, dense and tasty palate with a long-lasting finish where fine toasty notes appear."
