Description
The winery writes: "In the glass the wine is urgent in its pungency and leads with strong smokey barbequed bacon, orange blossom and the pervading aroma of a boronia bush on an autumn evening. Fat juice fig flesh and leathery nectarine skin combine with slightly dusty and earthy tones of mustard seed, vegemite and tobacco leaf which lifts in the end to an edge of Manuka honey. Impressive and statemental, the palate is certainly no shrinking violet but rather offers great fullness and huge mouthfill. Thick baked apple and crisp hokey pokey flood through the mouth and by employing a classic forward attacking structure, the phenolics round up the taste buds and take them hostage. Taking full advantage of the lack of residual sugar (for the wine is bone dry) the ever-present acidity stands out like a row of shiny brass buttons as it curls round the cheeks and refocuses the wine behind the tongue. Of all the wines we make, this is the one that cries out for food to accompany and to my mind it begs the challenge of a creamy seafood bisque."
