BUY OF THE WEEK | Bob Campbell MW "A good easy-drinking red at a very affordable price."
“La Chiave” means “the key”. Importer Steve Bennett MW scoured the Abruzzo region of Eastern Italy and unearthed this ripe, soft, fruity, approachable Montepulciano that, until now, has been safely locked away (the locals have a habit of keeping it for themselves). Montepulciano is the 2nd most planted red grape in Italy (after Sangiovese) and has a well earned reputation for well-priced juicy “pizza-friendly” wines that are delicious to drink. This 2018 is all that and more. Put some pasta on the stove and a pizza in the oven immediately.
Another outrageous bargain with the Advintage Advantage.
A smooth and savoury wine with plenty of ripe berry fruit flavours. It's a medium bodied, easy drinking style and goes perfectly with pizza & pasta.
Bob Campbell writes "Attractively fruity, and quite rustic red with floral, spice, briar, charcuterie and dark cherry flavours supported by a backbone of fine, firm tannins. A good easy-drinking red at a very affordable price."
Sam Kim writes "The wine is gently fragrant on the nose showing spiced cherry, smoked game, dark spice and almond characters. It's juicy and nicely weighted on the palate, displaying sweet berry flavours together with a savoury undertone, finishing long and pleasingly dry."
