A MASSIVE, MONSTER PINOT NOIR DEAL
92 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS "Balanced, even and lengthy... Well made."
In the wine trading game it's always a struggle to find rewarding, high quality, well-priced pinot. It's a blue moon day at Advintage HQ when we get offered something that ticks all those boxes and, when we came across Kely Pinot Noir, we got pretty excited about it pretty fast.
This classy Marlborough Pinot was destined for international markets before covid-19 threw a spanner in the works and, after some serious hustling, we've managed to slot this gem into the sub $12 bracket on case buys.
Dark, broody and with all the hallmark pinot flavours of red berries and a hint of spice, this is quality Pinot through and through. It's scored a stellar 92pts from Cameron Douglas MS and is drinking far beyond this quaffer price point. Sealed under cork, it's perfectly bottle-aged but will easily cellar for another 3 - 5 years.
If you're a pinot fan and like to play in the quaffer sandpit, this is a deal you need to get stuck into.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Savoury, fruity, developed and ready. Aromas and flavours of dark red berries and spiced cherry, raspberry and baking spices of cinnamon, vanilla and a moment of bacon-spice oak. Balanced, even and lengthy on the palate with fine integrating tannins, medium acidity and a core of fruit flavours that reflect the nose. Dry with a lasting texture and baking spice, toasty finish. Well made."
The winery writes "The wine displays a wonderful aroma of plums, light red berries and hints of spice. The wine has a soft, round palate with subtle tannins and savoury flavours."
