4.5 STARS 88/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Partially aged in large 300L French hogshead barrels - hence the name - Hogshead Shiraz is blended from fruit off old vines from the best vineyards in Barossa, McLaren Vale and South Australia to produce the ultimate expression of Australian Shiraz. Flavourfull and full-bodies this is perfect for the cooler nights.
Sam Kim writes "Sweetly fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, ripe cherry, vanilla and toasted nut aromas, leading to a supple palate that's juicy and lingering. It's smooth and supple with ripe berry flavours with subtle spicy nuances, making it friendly and easy to enjoy."
The winery writes "Quintessentially South Australian Shiraz this wine is loaded with colour and lifted aromatics. You'll find red and purple fruit, milk chocolate, vanilla bean and spice softened by ripe rounded tannins and integrated acidity. Mouth-filling and satisfying, Hogshead Shiraz will partner many cuisines but will be perfect with a large tomahawk steak cooked over coals."
