FOUR STARS 18/20 | Raymond Chan
This first release from iconic winemaker John Hancock and his eldest son Willy, is a welcome return from one of New Zealand's best loved and most adventurous producers. Hancock forged his considerable reputation from pioneering stints at Delegats, Morton Estate and Trinity Hill but this latest eponymous venture sees him return to the basics of small batch winemaking. The 2018 Lillies Rosé is a delightful first cab off the rank. It is dry in style but has a kiss of berry fruit sweetness that overlays a backbone of citrus and crisp apple flavours. Vinted from Cabernet Franc it is a quality Rosé with structure and a lovely crunchy texture. We expect this new release to be a smash hit with the Advintage Rosé Faithful. Stock is limited and our allocation of this delicious summer wine will not be enough to satisfy demand. Be quick.
