Very classy premium Marlborough Chardonnay from three time New Zealand Winemaker of the Year - Nikolai St George and the Giesen winemaking team. With fruit sourced from the internationally renowned Clayvin Vineyard, this is always a special wine and the 2019 enjoyed a perfectly handled oak regime that enhances the fruit component without taking the conversation over. It's a masterclass in affordable quality and the 2017 vintage claimed Champion Wine of Show award at the Royal Easter Show. This is an out and out steal with the Advintage Advantage. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Striking aromas of hazelnut, hot rock, grilled stone fruit and brioche, combine with a multi-layered, succulent and focused palate to create a wine with great depth and character. The wine was matured in predominately French oak hogsheads and puncheons and 1000L German oak Fuder barrels for 10 months. Oak age is a mix between one, two and three year old with the balance older. This selection is to ensure the wine has subtle oak character which allows the fruit to shine.
