GOLD MEDAL | NZ Organic Wine Awards
95 POINTS | Bob Campbell MW
93 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
A textbook example of premium Central Otago Pinot Noir. A full flavour profile of red fruits, spices and wet earth. Delicious now but will cellar well for 10 years.
The winery writes "Deeply complex; demure red fruits sidle alongside earth, beetroot and alpine flowers. Medium bodied, the precise acidity draws the poised fruit throught to a delicate finish. Fine and elegant."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Vibrant, varietal and enticing bouquet with aromas of ripe red berry fruits with a savoury core, fine smoky wood scents and baking spices of vanilla and clove, complex, youthful and engaging. On the palate - equally vibrant, very youthful and quite tense with firm tannins and medium+ acidity, the core of fruit balances the youthful attributes and mineral along with oak and its toasty spices. Lengthy finish, well made and ready from 2022 through 2030+."
Bob Campbell MW writes "From old vines (planted in 1983) grown on the Home Block in Gibbston. It was 100% de-stemmed before fermentation using indigenous yeasts. A fragrant, floral pinot noir with red cherry, violet, fresh herb flavours and a peppery texture."
