FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
94 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Full bodied Chardonnay from a quality Marlborough producer. The 2019 is loaded with plush fruit weight and shows layers of rich, creamy, nutty complexity. The oak component is part of the discussion but doesn't dominate the conversation and the overall impression is one of power and balance. Lovely organic wine.
Sam Kim writes "It's gorgeously fruited and elegantly expressed on the nose showing apricot, nougat, roasted hazelnut and oatmeal characters. The palate is equally delightful and attractive, displaying excellent weight and expansive mouthfeel, leading to a lengthy creamy finish."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "This is a complete wine - aromas and flavours of fresh, ripe, soft white and yellow fleshed orchard fruits, just the right measure of oak with layers of vanilla, cream and baked custard, some fresh cashew and warm stony mineral moments. Medium+ (ish) acidity, plenty of weight and creamy mouth feel contrasted with a super fine wood tannin layer. Balanced and well made with a fine complex finish."
