GOLD MEDAL | Melbourne International Wine Competition 2020
FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit " a beautifully rounded palate that's juicy and bright"
This is vibrant spicy McLaren Vale Sangiovese from the gifted hands of celebrated winemaker Corey Ryan. Sangiovese is the grape variety of Chianti but this rendition is fruiter and has more body than traditional Italian styles. It fills the palate with savoury notes in the raspberry and black-cherry spectrum, while a lick of chalky tannin cleans up the finish making a second glass almost mandatory. The Farm Hand range has been especially popular with the Advintage Faithful and this Bin End deal makes this rewarding wine compelling value.
Enjoy with robust Mediterranean dishes or the next time friends gather for a roast dinner and you want to pull something cool out of the bag.
Sam Kim writes "93pts Youthfully charming and inviting, the bouquet shows Black Doris plum, raspberry, floral and toasted nut characters, followed by a beautifully rounded palate that's juicy and bright. It's silky and flowing to a lingering refreshing finish."
The winery writes "Dark purple in the glass. Hard to dispute the variety on the nose with trademark cherries leaping to the fore. There’s a little savoury note too with a leathery, herbal bay leaf character that’s really polished. On the palate there’s more of that cherry / berry intensity all carried along by chalky tannins and characterised by high acidity on the finish that is so typical of Sangiovese. Pair it with an Osso Bucco."
