FINELY CRAFTED, LIMITED RELEASE, SMALL BATCH ROSÉ.
91 POINTS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

93 POINTS "EXCELLENT" | Cameron Douglas MS. "Great drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2024"
Another stonking, fresh release from Esk Valley's small batch Artisanal series - a program of limited release wines that allows celebrated winemaker Gordon Russel to make the wines he chooses, rather than being dictated to by commercial demands.
Crunchy and dry with good body and structure, this is another delicious example of food-friendly wine from the most celebrated rosé winemaker in New Zealand history. Look for crisp flavours in the watermelon and cranberry spectrum with some herbal complexity and wet-stone minerality kicking in the extra 5% of palate magic.
An outstanding example of modern, Hawke's Bay Rosé that has been held at the winery for 12 months prior to release to be in optimal drinking condition for summer 22/23.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, fresh and enticing boquuet of light red fruits including starwberry and cranberry with a touch of red cherry suggested. Quite floral with a fine lees and mineral quality. Flavours on the palate mirror the bouquet accentuated with a fresh acid line adding texture and crunch. A very faint fruit tannin quality alongside the core fruit flavours deliver a wine of distinction. Great drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2024."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's elegantly lifted on the nose showing red apple, ripe strawberry, lemon peel and green olive notes, followed by a finely expressed palate delivering juicy fruit flavours with vibrant acidity, finishing lingering and delightfully crisp."
Bob Campbell MW writes "Pale, pretty, gently aromatic rosé with raspberry sherbert, strawberry, pot-pourri and violet flavours. A seamless wine with an ethereal texture and well-concealed sweetness."
The winery writes "This full bodied dry Rose is savoury and complex. Made from Cabernet Franc it showcases the herbal nature of the grape, its complex flavours ranging from a medley of red fruits to brambly herbal notes. Attractively pale in colour with a rich and dry mouthfeel it's the ideal wine for the bar or the dining table."

My new favourite
Thought this was going to be sweet but it's beautiful, crisp and dry. Love it!
