4.5 STARS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit "elegantly weighted and beautifully juicy"
Fiano is a high-quality, white grape variety used widely in southern Italy. It is typically dry with floral and honeyed notes on the nose, and a lightly textural palate with subtle spice and tropical fruit flavours.
That description perfectly sums up this delicious Aussie example from the hands of superstar winemaker Corey Ryan. Put another way, if good pinot gris and quality dry riesling had a baby, it would look a lot like this.
Just off dry, this tangy 2020 release shows a gentle kiss of fruit sweetness on the mid-palate that perfectly balances out the creamy acidity on the finish - but those zesty tropical fruits never lose focus and clearly run the show. It's different. It's delicious. And it deserves to be on your summer table in 2021.
The winery writes "Clear, ripe and flavour-filled. This is a classic Fiano wine with citrus and floral scents that flow similarly to the palate along with mineral and chalk in a densely rich yet fresh white wine. Fiano is perfectly suited to us in Australia, it will be perfect on its own and can accompany many cuisines."
Sam Kim writes "It's delicately expressed on the nose showing apricot, green tea, floral and lemon peel aromas. The palate is elegantly weighted and beautifully juicy with pristine fruit flavours backed by refreshing acidity."
