This enticing blend of Hawkes Bay Merlot, Syrah and Malbec is another stellar effort from winemaker Steve Skinner and the 2017 is an immediately attractive wine with upfront juiciness and glossy, dark fruit characters that reveal layers of spice and complexity as the wine opens in the glass.
This lovely wine is already in banging form but will blossom over the coming 6 - 8 years should you chose to lay some down.
Candice Chow writes "The nose is soft with good intensity aromas of berry fruit, cassis, plums, melded with herbaceous notes and integrated fragrant oak element. The palate is pleasantly soft and juicy berries, plums and cassis, entwined with herbs and toasty oak spices. This a soft and succulent Merlot dominant blend, exhibiting juicy red fruit and herbs, with an integrated fine-grained tannin structure supported by toasty oak detail."
Sam Kim writes "This is beautifully fruited and delightfully perfumed on the nose showing blackcurrant, spiced plum, vanilla and toasted nut characters with a hint of tobacco. It's succulent and wonderfully weighted on the palate offering terrific fruit intensity backed by fine texture and grainy tainnins."
