SILVER MEDAL | NZ International Wine Show 2019
This is one of our favorite expressions of coastal Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. Gorgeous wine with lovely palate weight, the 2017 balances the need for generosity and power with the perfect degree of restraint. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The winery writes "Both our Te Awanga and Bridge Pa vineyards have the ideal sub-climates to grow this variety. This is an elegant and concentrated Chardonnay that combines vibrant citrus and stone-fruit characters with wonderful texture."
Michael Cooper writes "The tightly structured, vigorous 2017 vintage was estate-grown at Te Awanga (90 per cent) and in the Bridge Pa Triangle (10 per cent), and fermented and matured for a year in French oak casks (25 per cent new). It has a fragrant, complex bouquet, leading into a full-bodied wine with good intensity of fresh grapefruit and peach flavours, integrated toasty oak, and a crisp, long finish."
