4.5 STARS 91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
The Elefanté range has captured the hearts of The Advintage Faithful and this is another outright bargain coming from the preferred Castilla la Mancha region of Spain.
Vinted from Tempranillo (70%) and Shiraz (30%), this is rich and opulent with the tempranillo component bringing structure and savoury notes to the equation which is perfectly matched with dark berry notes from the shiraz portion. At just $13.99 on case buys, this is outstanding value for fans of Spanish red. Climb in.
The winery writes "Deep red in colour with a ripe, expressive nose of berries, plums and smoked spice. The palate is rich and opulently fruited, packed with dark berried Shiraz fruit matched by structured, savoury Tempranillo and framed by silky tannins. Impressively complex and well balanced, this wine will gain character and complexity in the cellar for up to five years. Perfect with chargrilled chorizo and olives."
Sam Kim writes "It's instantly appealing on the nose showing dark plum, sweet cherry, cured meat and toasted spice aromas. The palate offers terrific fruit intensity together with savoury nuances, leading to a lengthy succulent finish. Gorgeously styled and flavoursome."
