Finely crafted Te Muna Pinot from one of New Zealand's great winemaker talents. Rod Easthope writes "This less trodden sub-district of Martinborough produces highly structured Pinot Noir.  The combination of exacting viticulture with uncommon winemaking technique has resulted in a Pinot Noir that we would count as the finest wine of our winegrowing careers."

Description

FIVE STARS 19/20 Raymond Chan | Wine Reviews writes "Dark, deep, near black-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on rim with some garnet hues. The nose is very firm and tightly concentrated with densely packed aromas of ripe black berry and black cherry fruit infused with layers of dark herb and savoury whole bunch complexities that range from stalk, sap and stem to floral and spicy perfumes. Lifted floral and minerally elements add detail and interest. Medium-full bodied, tightly concentrated flavours of bright dark red berry, bitter cherry and spicy herb and minerally flavours are enlivened and sweetened by fresh, lacy, ripe acidity. Oaking is unobtrusive and carefully balanced to be integral. The fruit is entwined with very fine-grained, powdery, sinewy tannins that grow in prominence and carry the flavours with vitality and energy. The fruit richness is poised and elegant in proportion, and the mouthfeel has sinewy ‘puissance’, acidity, grip and great drive. Complex cherry, berry, currant, herb and stem nuances are carried to a very long, sustained, dry-textured finish. This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with a range of complex berry and sweet whole cluster and Abel clone herb flavours with superb sinewy structure and great vitality. It will be fascinating to see it evolve over the next 10 years."
